First off, Fred looks mighty spiffy.

and better you than me on waxing them rims. I wouldn't have the patience.
I know everyone talks about clay barring a vehicle and raves about the results.
I feel with the condition of my paintjob(having some chips and scratches etc.) McGuiars is suitable for me.
Last year I bought a Mcguiars smooth surface clay bar kit. Reading up on clay barring I proceeded. I used Dawn dish soap to get down to the clear coat and then used it as the "lube" through out the process. After getting my step ladders handy, I started on the roof and worked down. I kneaded the bar periodically and kept the "trash" to the inner part.
When finished I waxed with Meguiars NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0. I then took a plastic bag and started running my hand (in it) over the hood. I still felt a crap load of trash. NOT as much as before I started BUT, enough to think I wasted most of my time going through the extra effort and few extra $ as just washing and waxing.
Is this a process that should be repeated a few times, back to back(if the surface is bad) or is it possible I'm feeling trash IN the factory paint job not ON it.
