So About 3 Weeks Ago I Got My Truck Back Right! But....as soon as I got off the freeway I heard this horrible noise and my truck was not drivable after that.
It was as if the transmission had failed again! You have no idea how I felt that moment, if you guys never seen a man cry like a little girl you should have seen me that day. But after I calmed down I said to myself, myself, there is nothing that cannot be repaired so stop crying!
Had to call triple A and got towed back to the shop "AGAIN"! When Randy, at performance associates, took a look at it he found out that in reverse the shaft would turn but the tires wouldn't; he concluded at the spot that the rear end had gone out on me.
I've been aware that my rear........
......well....my truck's rear end is the weakest link but I didn't want it go out on me right now right now; later laaaaater, would have been better! But all I had to do was deal with the situation.
After the tech took the diff apart he found out that the driver side axle had twisted in two pieces, causing carrier damage. He then acquired the components needed to repair it. A set of chromoly axles and all the races ,bearings, pins and shims were also replaced. The carrier was re-machined and re-used.
My intention in the future is to replace the front and rear axle assemblies with the best dynatrac the market has to offer. So the tech made the rear end work with the repairs he is making now.
As some of you already know someone snitched on me and told everybody that I finally got my truck back yesterday. Yes it is true, I "finally" did and it's running like a champ. I'm in the process of adding about a 1000 miles to break in the new engine, transmission, and rear end.
Now to the story behind the story:
Last year when the SoCal gang and I went to the off road show I finally made up my mind and purchased the $350 1/2" 100' synthetic winch feed.
Today I finally got to install it and getting ready to remove lower and upper bumper and bull bar so I can replace it with my Xmas Gift, refer to thread http://www.truckmodcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?p=573769#post573769 Post 23
