Boost in 1.0L engines is not exactly something new to me. Back in 2002 there were some versions of the Fiesta using a supercharged 1.0L engine made in Brazil and also exported to Colombia and Venezuela. But that engine, despite being a 4-cylinder, was too much simpler, had even a 2-valve head layout. As far as "truck" goes, I doubt this new Ecoboost would go into anything larger than a Transit Connect or the South-African Ford Bantam, not real trucks but the closest this thing can get in a commercial vehicle application.

I would be interested in that if I were commuting a long way. I just wish they would get off there ass and put a small diesel in one of these cars. A 1.6L Turbo diesel in a fiesta would get 65-70 MPG.

Why would I want a 1.0 liter 3 cylinder that puts out the same power and gets the same mileage as the 1.6 liter 4 cylinder but will surely cost a premium? :dunno:

Doesn't make much sense to me...

I think it will get better mileage than the 1.6L. It will probably get another 5 MPG's. Its not much but the automakers have to raise their MPG average before 2014. Therefore more of these style cars will be coming out.
