Sometimes, when conditions are just right, there doesn't seem to be ANYTHING that will get the damn windows clear.

Don't forget, just getting in the car and breathing in it is going to add moisture to the air inside. When the defroster blows that moist air at the cold window glass the moisture is going to condense on it, at least until the defroster gets the glass warm enough to prevent that.

It happens to me all the time. In the winter with my living situation at school, I literally jump in the truck for three minutes and shut it back down (after I let it warm up a bit while I scrape the outside). It seems to always cause it to fog over on the inside. :dunno:

I'm taking mine in next week monday for the same problem. I do get a bit of coolant smell from mine though. On a previous truck the problem was caused by a poor seal on the windshield. Only way I can get mine clear at all is running with the window down a bit, not doing that all damn winter.

On the newer cars, the A/C compressor runs whenever the defroster (windshield, not the rear electric one) is selected. They do this to get the dry-est air possible hitting the windshield.

On my '94 S10 w/o A/C, it took forever to clear the windshield in the winter. In my dad's and my mom's car, you can smell the musty air after you turn off the defroster. Also, on my dad's, since it only has a 2.0L, you can feel the A/C compressor kick in and out when the defroster is on; even if it is on the mix floor/defroster.
