I have finally decided to get an iPod. I used to have a nice Zen Vision but the ex took it when she moved out. Now my new bike has a hook up for an ipod so I'm in the market. I have an adapter to use the headphone jack on my phone but you can't change songs or playlists or anything, and the battery doesn't last that long playing music. The ipod adapter charges the ipod and you can scroll songs, playlists, etc with the handlebar controls. It will be living in the bike all summer and probably in the truck all winter so I don't need anything fancy just need one that works and has a decent amount of storage. I currently have about 60Gb of music that is continuously expanding so I'm looking 80+GB. I will probably buy used off of craigslist or ebay since I really don't care if it has scratches or anything. Now it's your turn to school me, were there any generations that were better than others or anything to watch out for or are they pretty straight forward? The bike has a pocket with a pre-fit slot for the regular ipod so I will be going for one of the old school big ones. Any advice or if anyone has one they're looking to get rid of let me know (T you must have 10 or 12).

Keep in mind that the Classic is hard drive based and it's going to get the shit shaken out of it on your bike. I'd at least consider a flash-based iPod Touch.

Isn't the iTouch only up to 64gig?

Speaking of iTouch mine will not synch anymore, W7 will not reconize it. I followed all trouble shooting steps and went to the online forum. Time to make an appointment with the iPeople at the mall.

I have a 80gb and 120gb Ipod classics (different gen's.) The 120gb is much slimmer. I don't think you will have a problem with the hardrives. I have beat mine around really good, and it still works.

I loved my ipod touche when I had it. I don't miss it at all but it was for some good times.

I would say get the touch. I had a classic as well at one time and I feel that the touch would be easier to navigate playlists, ect. While on the bike.

It's not heaven . . . it's Iowa!
I got the GF the 6 gen Nano for Christmas. But I don't think it goes any higher than 8GB. :dunno:

I agree with T on the flash idea. You don't want a HDD on your bike . . .

Agreed. The Touch also opens you up to all the apps as well, well worth it.
