Fiberglass fenders

Hey TMC Team! Anyone with fiberglass fenders? I'm more concerned with the front. I want a little more clearance without too much of a baja look as my truck is not built for the baja type world. Glassworksunlimited makes the 4" flare, 3" rise for the 04-08 F150. It's not too extreme but will work with my winch bumper and give the coverage I need. This will be important as I will be getting larger wheels and wider tires. Also, anyone have REAL fender vents? Pictures of all models are welcome to get my mind spinning.

Nothing here, but a set of hand laid fiberglass fenders would be badass.

So I bought and receieved some fenders from glassworks unlimited and put some fender inserts in. I need to do some minor modifications and possibly some cutting and fiberglassing for a perfect fit. But my major issue is that my wheel well splash guards dont extend to the new fenders. I have seen people remove them completely but I think it looks tacky and doesn't give any protection for the engine against debris. So now I REALLY need some ideas. I might try to make some from sheet sheetmetal.

I was thinking about that or even getting some old splash gaurds from the junkyard and combining them with fiberglass. But because the fenders have the 4" rise, I would not only have to extend the splash guards out but up. I was also thinking about ordering splash guards from a much larger vehicle to see if I could trim them to fit in my wheel well. This might take a lot of trial and error. Ugh.

Here is what I have done so far. This is a shot of one of the fenders.

I did a little paper mache so I could get the contour of the fender to practice cutting and fitting the inserts.

Here is one of the inserts.

I made my own template because the one that came with the inserts was crappy.

I like the RBP studded look and am going to modify my grille as such. The fender vents will match the grille nicely. Here is a comparison of the fenders with and without the vents.

I've already done a fit test... pics to come. I need to do some more modifications first for a better fit.
