rotors on the back of the 2000 F250 have gotten a ring of rust around them, junk oem stuff i guess, but its time for new rear pads and rotors, this truck does nothing but tow trailers and haul hay bales so i just want lots of stopping power, i just did a quick search on tirerack.com and was thinking about some Hawk HP Superduty pads and perhaps ATE Premiumone slotted rotors, anyone have any other suggestions? like i said this truck does a lot of towing and hauling so stopping power is the big thing

Why don't you just get the rotors turned?? and if your talking about the outer edge of the rotor thats typical rust because the pad doesn't come in contact with that part of the brake.

the rust is smack in the middle of the contact surface, personally i don't believe in turning rotors especially on a vehicle thats gonna put a lot of heat in them, seems to me they'd be more likely to warp, and they've got like 45k miles on em, of nothing but towing and hauling

Well then you wouldnt have to turn much of the rotor to just get the surface rust off! personally i would save my money rotor wise. if the pads are gone you cant do anything about that haha

its a bit beyond surface rust (which wears right off anyway) and with that many towing miles i'd rather just get some nice high quality rotors and pads

zembonez, thanks for the info, i will look into those

Might try Jegs too. They sometimes have sales on this stuff to boot.

Rotor Pros (CLICK ME!) has good deals. I ordered new rotors, brake pads, and the e-brake pads for the rear of my truck for about $175 (can't remember the exact amount). I have noticed a big improvement on stopping power.

ended up getting the hawk superduty pads and ate slotted rotors, very happy with em so far, prob get the same setup for the front next year

also got new front pads and rotors for the front of the 2wd ranger, centric rotors (couldn't find ate rotors for a 2wd) and hawk LTS truck and suv pads, they're a little spongy when cold but after you get a little heat in em they are very grippy, probably overkill for the little 2wd but i'm definetly gonna get em for the 4x4 when its back on the road

thanks for the input everyone!
