Why is it ok for diesel trucks to run straight pipes but not ok for gas trucks??

I never even thought twice about doing it on my F150 and loved every minute of it. You're going to hear negatives and postives. A lot of people don't like straight pipe, personally I love the sound of it. Yeah, it's annoying on long trips, but that's what the wife's car is for.Just do it!
