EcoTec3 4.3L V6 ratings released

When the all-new 2014 GMC Sierra full-size pickup arrives this summer, its standard 4.3L EcoTec V-6 it will offer the most torque of any standard V-6 in the segment – 305 lb-ft (413 Nm).

Sierra’s standard V-6 produces an SAE-certified 285 horsepower (212 kW)

Quite a bit of torque out of a sixer! Despite the stupid name, the Gen Vs seem pretty promising.

Or maybe called it the "New Vortec"...
Then in a couple of years when they tweak it little, they could call it the "New New Vortec"

Higher HP and torque than the 96+ Vortec 5.0 v8....it should be a good motor for a base, run-around truck and should mate well with the 6 speed auto!

I wonder about the value of cylinder deactivation on a v6 in a fullsize truck though.

GM should've left the Ecotec nameplate for the DOHC 4-pot and V6 car engines. Doesn't match so well to the truck engines as Vortec always did.
