An update for the ecoboost

Truck has 7703.6 miles
Total 442.6 gallons used
Averaging 17.42 mpg with the truck being daily driven an average speed of 35.44MPH
Best tank is 19.98mpg worst is 15.72. I have yet to tow with the truck.
And for reference the dash's read out is typically within .2 mpg from hand calculated

Have you changed the oil yet?:)

How hard is it and where is the filter located?

Hell if I know, I have enough cars to maintain. Her shit gets dropped off at ford and they do the oil change. It costs me just as much as it does to buy it all, they rotate the tires for me, and it allows me to build a service history in the event the truck has an issue.
But ya, I changed the oil at 4900 miles.

Cool, it is a good way to keep maintenance records, plus if they can do it that inexpensive then

They should be able to change it for like $15 if you supply your own oil and filter :)

Sort of defeats the purpose. My ford dealer does an oil change and tire rotation for like $45, well worth not doing it myself, im a lazy bitch

Finally towed something with it.
Between everything I had in the truck, and the trailer she had about 6500lbs behind her.

Power was great. I towed from North of seattle to eastern oregon, about 300 miles. Over snoqualmie pass, umtananum and manashtash.
Snoqualmie goes from sea level to about 3000 feet, nothing major, just kind of fWONking long. The hill starts at mp 25 and the peak is mp 53.
Manastash climbs to 2700 ft with a 6% grade
Untanum gains 2500 feet at 5%
The truck never had an issue maintaining 70mph, it would often drop to 5th gear on the hills, and on 1 occasion it dropped to 4th. I ran premium as recommended.
Truck averaged 11.4 mpg with the load behind it, at 65-70 the whole trip(speed limit) With just the empty trailer on the return trip home I averaged 15.6mpg. The truck averages about 18.5 on this same trip unloaded. I was very happy with it. About 2 years ago I took my 6.4L powerstroke on this same drive towing about 7k lbs and the truck averaged 12.2 mpg. So, given the cost of diesel, i'll keep my little v6...

FWIW when I wasn't pulling the hills the truck was doing about 13mpg on flat ground...

the motor is hurt, took it down to my old mans to get some assitance in trouble shooting, and decided to leave it while I wait for parts. Its got a nasty tick in the head, trying to isolate, its not lash adjusters. I think its a rocker arm, but I had to order it.... so we wait. Its getting about the time of year I park it anyways
