And... your point is?

Setting the e-brake before shifting to park, and releasing it after shifting out of park, takes a lot of strain off your drivetrain, especially on slopes or uneven ground. It can also save your drivetrain from damage if you get hit while parked.

I set it every time I park a vehicle, and so does my wife.

Ever park on a hill and then have a bitch of a time getting it out of park again because the parking pawl is now jammed in there from the weight of the vehicle on the hill? Setting and releasing the e-brake like I do saves all that wear and tear on your tranny and linkage.

Maybe that's why it's really called a parking brake, not an emergency brake.
