Didn't get a whole lot done today. Woke up late, felt like shit, so I didn't get started until around noon. When I went to pull the power steering pump and bracket off to the side, I noticed that the jackass (long story) who replaced the pump right after I bought the truck, and routed one of the PS lines BEHIND the harness, and one IN FRONT. So, my options were to pull apart the PS system (which would be a pain in the ass to put back together and purge etc.), or to trace the harness under, and around the motor (it was the piece that runs under the front of the oil pan, to the A/C comp, oil level sensor, starter etc.). There wasn't ANY room under there, and it ended up taking me three hours to get the PS pump out of the way before all was said and done.

I also ran to NAPA and picked up a fuel line tool. Everything is removed from the engine except for the fuel lines, and exhaust. Tomorrow I'll pull everything off of the trans, and pull off the t-case. Then it comes out.

What it looks like now:

Didn't you say you had a date that the new motor had to be in by? How are you doing on that date?

Meh, I'm disappointed with how much I got done today. That damn PS pump just took way too much time, and killed my motivation. I am just about done with the engine compartment though, but I'm not looking forward to taking off the t-case. I might have to pick up some ratcheting box wrenches for that one, I don't feel like spending 6 hours un bolting it.

First thing tomorrow, is to pick up trans fluid, and a fuel filter.

I've still got 10 days before I got back to school, so I'm good. If I can get it pulled out tomorrow, I think I should be trying to start it by Monday night, Tuesday at the latest. Everything should go back together much quicker than it's coming apart, since I'm figuring out what needs to come apart as I go along now, but going back together, I just know I just have to put it all back from whence it came.

Yeah if I had a tight deadline, I'd be working much faster (and start earlier, and stop later ), but I've set enough time aside so that I can take my time, and NOT **** anything up. Figuring it out as I go along (alone) doesn't help speed things up, either.

Use Dexron VI instead of the Dexron III. Its more expensive, but a much better fluid. So much better that all 2006 and newer GM truck HAVE to use Dexron VI, they were designed for it. I flushed mine and replaced all the fluid with Dexron VI and it seems to shift much better now. (But then again, I did get a Blackbear tune like a week after I changed the fluid:lol:)
