So I have the top bar off of the core support, the rad. out, and everything else in front, EXCEPT for the A/C condenser. Apparently the EPA frowns on r134a being released into the atmosphere.

Also got the harness undone from the fuse box, so I can pull it out with everything else.

Didn't get a whole lot done today. Woke up late, felt like shit, so I didn't get started until around noon. When I went to pull the power steering pump and bracket off to the side, I noticed that the jackass (long story) who replaced the pump right after I bought the truck, and routed one of the PS lines BEHIND the harness, and one IN FRONT. So, my options were to pull apart the PS system (which would be a pain in the ass to put back together and purge etc.), or to trace the harness under, and around the motor (it was the piece that runs under the front of the oil pan, to the A/C comp, oil level sensor, starter etc.). There wasn't ANY room under there, and it ended up taking me three hours to get the PS pump out of the way before all was said and done.

I also ran to NAPA and picked up a fuel line tool. Everything is removed from the engine except for the fuel lines, and exhaust. Tomorrow I'll pull everything off of the trans, and pull off the t-case. Then it comes out.

What it looks like now:

Transferring the harness/brackets/random bullshit over today and tonight, hope to get it sitting in the truck by lunchtime tomorrow. Then it's just a matter of remembering where everything goes, and finding all the bolts. It's SO nice being able to work outside, instead of hiding in a garage from the rain.

Everything's going pretty slowly, but reasonably well considering the weather we've had the past week, and the fact that neither my Dad, nor I have ever done an engine swap before.

Oh, and here's a picture of the engine bay without my dumb ass in it.

Have you started wiring up Frankenstein's internal power supply? Headers in yet?

Nope, it's just sitting there, not even bolted in, and the trans cross member is still out. It was dark, and I'm trying to go to sleep early, so I can start working early tomorrow.

Some more pictures:

This is where I stopped for the night, getting too tired, and I don't want to f*ck something up.

First time at the track:

Ran the truck at the track tonight for the first time after the 6.0/cam/converter/LTs/trans. Was only able to squeeze in two runs before the rain showed up.

Didn't run as well as I was hoping, but there were quite a few things holding me back.

First, since the rain was moving in, there was a TON of moisture in the air, which never helps anything.

Second, I have a bad knock sensor, which may or may not be pulling timing (I still don't have a definitive answer about that).

Third, was traction. It was physically impossible to avoid the waterbox, and 4wd burnouts don't work so well, so I was launching with wet tires. You can see in the second video that the rear end drops, the truck kind of sits still for a split second, and then it goes. Also, mud tires aren't the best for speed.

Fourth, my exhaust setup is FAR from flowing well. SI/DO flowmaster with dual 2.25" piping after the muffler is a pretty big restriction. I'm trying to put my cutout in before I get to the track next time.

Also, for the time being, I'm only tuned for (and running) 87 octane.

14.752 @ 93.21

Videos:
The finish line wasn't marked, so I ended up letting off early, and running a 15.4  Truck in the right lane was having some pretty serious traction issues.

MUCH better this time, but like I said before, you can see the little hesitation after the launch.

And some pictures.

I love this shot for some reason.

I think that just about wraps it up.

So the only thing I've done since my first time at the track, is replace the rusted knock sensors. Helped BIG time. My best time with the truck is a 14.039 @ 95.09. I don't have a video of that run though, but I have timeslips. With decent weather (under 80 degrees), the truck runs consistent 14.1s, with the occasional 14.0 (I've got I think four 14.0 passes). Some exhaust changes should get me in the 13s.

(Left lane on both runs).

I do have some videos though. On this day, track temp was around 100 degrees, and the truck was heatsoaked. Best run of the day was a 14.27, then I ran a 14.59, and three 14.44s in a row. This is one of the 14.44s.

And a launch picture. Front whee's got some nice positive camber. :D

More updates at a later point once I get the exhaust worked out.

I guess it might be time for an update. Keep in mind, my goals for this setup before I started were consistent 14.3s. I was almost into the 13s before, but some suspension and tire changes, along with ditching the Flowmaster for a Borla XR1 definitely helped.

Truck now looks like this:

And here's some videos and stuff:
Well, it happened tonight. :D DA was around 2000 ft. for the whole night, but the recent suspension, tire, and exhaust changes brought me from a 14.039 @ 95.09 to...

13.822 @ 97.75! :danana: I can't wait for some good weather this fall. On to the videos.

I really can't even express how happy I am with this setup. Before I had it all together, I expected somewhere around a 14.3, I NEVER thought I'd be seeing solid 13.xx sec. passes with a 2000 ft. DA. It was also cool to hear the announcer take a liking to my truck. He described it as "that surprisingly quick Chevy pickup truck". It's just cool to have something that other people take notice of.

I'm going to open this thread up, just in case anyone has any questions, or anything at all that they want to say, since I won't be updating this really at all anymore. I won't be seeing the truck more than once a month, so nothing will be happening.

Lets keep this on topic though, I want this to stay as much of an informational thread as possible.
