Day 6 we packed up and headed 4 hours northwest to crested butte to meet the other half of the group that was coming out a week after us.

they got a flat too.... im pretty sure they were all drunk

Just after that last picture i had the worst accident i have had on a motorcycle. I was going about 40, crested a small hill saw a huge mud hole grabbed the brakes and the bike just slid out from under me slammed me down on my left side. HARD. layed there for a few mins got back up and made my way back to the house.

Day 8 the guy in the subaru blew his motor up. long story. so we didnt ride that day.

more snow.... i was the only one able to ride the whole way across it.

What was the fuel mileage on the Excursion towing all that equipment?

I think we were getting 12.... until we let the one guy drive, who is a cop, economy went into the single digits... lol

Did the high elevation really make a difference on the bikes performance?

YES. very much so, My bike is only a 250. So to loose 25% power off the top is alot when you have less than 20 HP. The blue Husabergs were 450's and fuel injected so the elevation didnt matter as much, the FI compensated, we had some jetting issues with the carbs. Even the Jeeps and trucks, 25% power loss right off the top.
