Purchased the grand-daughter a 2008 Pontiac G6 and have some issues with the door remotes. Car also has remote start as well. I replaced the battery and cleaned but still have problems with the Door Lock Button. Unlock Door Button and Truck Unlock Button works perfect as well does the Remote Start Button. But....the Door Lock Button usually will only work if you get your finger on the button just right and then press hard for about 4-5 seconds. Every now and then and will work as soon as you hit the button....but not often. With the remote start feature you still have to lock again with the remote before starting even if you locked the doors earlier. Local dealers want arm and leg for new remote. Found a site on line....carandtruckremotes.com that sell...supposedly....new factory remotes for the G6 for $59.95. Found another site for $54.95. Both sites clearly state that programming instructions are not included. I hate to buy one and then have to pay a dealer big bucks to program for me. Has anyone had any experience ordering replacement remotes and if so how did you get them programmed. Thanks in advance.

Not for that car but for my Sierra and my Tahoe, neither had remote start but was able to Google instructions, and bought them from Ebay.

Was the clip holding the battery connected good? The malibu my mom had had the same problem with both remotes and after taking it apart the clip was really loose. Soldered it back on and all was well.

I check on Google as well and found conflicting answers. Of course on stated to hold unlock button on door down and other said hold lock button down on door to start the process so obviously one is wrong.....or worse....they are both wrong.

Before buying new remotes... take those apart and look at the contacts for the buttons...
Sometimes they are just dirty.
Use a CLEAN pencil eraser or electrical contact cleaner to clean them.

Whatever you do, do NOT buy a remote from Midwest Keyless. They sell on eBay under the name your remote, and a few others that I can't recall. Those people are crooks.
