W I D E A W A K E... 5 something am..

AT LEAST I'M SELLING THINGS ON EBAY, PAID FOR MY NEW FUEL PUMP, HOPE I CAN GET IT INSTALLED SOON. :( :dunno:

What sucks is I started noticing a rough start here and there, then got fuel, drove a few blocks and BAM, truck died, rolling at a 30 mph coast I manually turned it onto a street and curbed it. :(

Thanks to PROGRESSIVE ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE I GOT A FREE (PAID) TOW HOME.

At least it's here with me and ready to get fixed. Hoping to cut a 3 sided panel out of the bed, bend it back and do the swap without lifting off the bed. Then I can fold it back closed and have an access panel in case it happens again in a few years. :( :ohnoes:

Got 4 years out of the current pump. :wtf?:Hope the next one lasts longer.

Do you routinely drive on a 1/4 tank or less and only add a few bucks of gas at the time? I have heard from several mechanics that doing that can put more stress on your pump. :dunno:

I agree with Scotty. The fuel is what keeps the pump cool.

Yep. If the pump isnt fully submerged it will not cool as easily.

I try to never get below a 1/4 of a tank, but occasionally it does happen. I always fill the tank up when I get gas.

Well, not working I don't have $100 to fill my tank up all the time so yes, little amounts ie: $30-50. It's ok I guess, life goes on, I'll manage. My buddy is gonna cut the access panel for me and swap should be relatively simple. And as for what kind it was, I honestly don't remember, but it wasn't that expensive so I'm assuming not top of the line.

That sucks man. Hope you get it fixed up soon. The myth that lower fuel levels shorten pump life is a funny one. Every in tank fuel pump is cooled by the fuel flowing through it... not so much the fuel around it. It does make sense that a submerged pump would cool somewhat better, but you have to be really really low on fuel for it to be exposed anyway.

Good to see you here though. :tmc:
