What kind of battery is it?
ACdelco
once a lead acid battery dies, it will never hold a charge again, get a new one and dont let it sit for more then a week...

dammm lol

or get an optima or some other gel battery, they can be drained fully (although i would not let it get under 2 volts) and then still be recharged and never notice a difference

arent those expensive?

That's if it freezes after it goes dead...

Lead acid can be recharged, even after a complete discharge... It's just not going to have as much capacity as it did before it died...

I leave mine sit for 2 weeks in the winter with no issues :dunno:

if a lead acid battery goes completely dead the electrolite turns to water and all of the acid is drawn towards the plates. this combination causes sulfication, which is when the lead and sulfuric acid crystallizes and falls off and goes to the bottom of the battery in the sediment chamber. when this happens the electrolite then has less sulfuric acid (once recharged) which will then not allow the battery to get up to the full 12.6 volts.....

now if it freezes when it is dead then the battery will crack and then you have the electrolite(at this point it would be mainly water though) would leak out of the battery once warmed up, and it will not work at all.

If you want an AGM battery, I'd go with Oddyssey or however they want to spell it... Better quality control than Optima.

(Don't yell at me Optima people, but it's true! When they work, they work awesome! They just don't always work...)

i prefer kinetic but i just suggest optima for the average person since they are cheaper and easier to get

Most of those batteries don't have the CCA I want :D

Yeah, but Dennis it doesn't get really cold where you live.:jester:

My optima Red Top sucked. I know several diesel owners that swear by the Odyssey batteries. They are expensive but well worth it.

A battery tender works wonders for when you're parked for extended periods of time, especially when your batteries have to turn over a heavy ass diesel engine!

I have never had any luck with Delco batteries. They only last a couple of years for me. I bought a Duralast yellow top (800cca) from Autozone for a little over $100 in December. Truck turns right over. I had a red top in my '99 that was in it when I bought it in Sept. of '04. It was still going strong when I wrecked the truck in Dec of '09. :dunno:
