A lot of people probably caught this in the Random Thought thread but here's an official thread with a few more pictures.
If you didn't get catch it, the Jeep is gone, liked it a lot but got the new car itch. Went and looked at this one and as soon as I sat in the driver seat I just uttered "well, shit" as I knew I'd be taking it home.
2013 Tahoe (LT) Z71 4x4
Exterior: Summit White
Interior: Whatever complicated name GM is using now for tan
5.3/6 speed
3.42s (highest available in a Tahoe)
Note, the exterior is dirty already as it poured rain while I was in town running some errands and hit some bugs on the hour long drive back from the dealership in Roswell.
Impressions so far:
*The 6 speed ratios are a good match for the 5.3 it just takes some prodding to get it to downshift. Maybe after it's broken in the and TCM has "adapted" it'll get bettter. If not, I'm sure it's something BBP can fix. Overall, light years ahead of the clunky 4 speed.
*Programming Homelink is much more involving than it was in the Jeep or my mom's Edge. On them you just held the button you wanted to program while holding the garage door opener button. This one you actually have to program using the buttons L for on, R for off.
*Do miss the keyless everything, but not a deal breaker by any means
*Like the much larger center console from a mix of a wider vehicle and the shifter up where it belongs, on the column.
*The OnStar Remote Link app is sweet! Start, unlock, etc from your phone. Let's you take full advantage of the remote start as you can start it from farther than 15' away.
Radio:
*The Bose in this sounds clearer and crisper than the Alpine in the Jeep
*The touch screen in this seems a generation ahead of the Jeep's. Higher resolution, better menu structure, and faster response.
*Haven't had a chance to compare the Navigation part yet.
*Starts playing iPod right away upon restart, the Jeep took 5 minutes or so.
*The voice commands for the radio in this are pretty much useless. When listening to the iPod in the Jeep I could hit the button and say "Play song..." and it would start playing that song. This does no such thing.
Issues:
*Seems GM's bluetooth and Jellybean don't quite get along. I can receive calls fine and if I know the number it'll dial it but it won't upload my phonebook where I can just say "Call (name)" and the voice pass-through doesn't work. Googled and it seems there's quite a few complaints about these issues. Anyone else's working like it's supposed to?
Mods:
*Front window tint
*Maybe a visit from BBP down the road in a year or so since it pretty much voids the powertrain warranty since there's no switching back in the stock TCM with the six speed.
Overall a sweet ass truck and I'm loving it so far (atleast in the less than 24 hours I've had it).
