Dam that sucks! I actually did the same thing before in my house in NewOrleans. Not as bad, just my foot went thru. I never did get it fixed, since Katrina hit before I got around to fixing it. (it happened like a month or two before Katrina) I just had a peice of visqueen stapled over the hole.

Yeah, I mis-stepped and didn't have anything to grab onto, until I goto the beams. It could've been a LOT worse than it was... I've gone over many scenarios that "should" have been more likely to have happened... It just didn't happen that way. For that, I am thankful!

I bought something similar last summer to walk the house with, to find "hot spots" (or at least hotter spots) on the ceiling, walls, etc. where insulation was thin.. (And, yes, for those of you who know, that is what led me into the attic last summer, when I fell through and made a mess of things. )

I never knew that...... I just pictured you falling through your ceiling... I lol'd

yeah, at least I was holding onto a roof rafter/brace as I was stepping across the beam. As soon as I felt my foot slip I grabbed that rafter tighter and my leg only went thru almost up to my knee. It knocked out about a 18 x 24 inch peice of sheetrock.

Yeah, aside from God saying it wasn't my time to go ... or to be maimed.. I think he also said "YOU work on computers, you HIRE people to do stuff to the house.. at least if it's above ground level!"
