Not sure if this is the correct forum so Mods feel free to move. I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT Hemi with 95,000 miles and I am not the original owner. Truck is always in carport and interior was like brand new until one day last week. Just driving down the road, not even a bumpy road, and my dash just split from windshield to glovebox. I have since found out this is a common thing with Dodge trucks. I have ordered a molded a molded dash cover from Auto Zone and just waiting on it to come in. My question is should I try to epoxy the crack or try to tape in anyway before I install the dash cover? Worried that crack could get worse but don't see how. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

It is a common problem, and there are several different types of solid overlays available for a pretty reasonable price if you decide to do something more permanent. I don't know about trying to epoxy it, it may be brittle enough that it will just stress crack somewhere else if it can't flex where it already cracked.

^^^ I agree with them. Might be worth trying some epoxy to seal the crack and possibly prevent further damage. It is a very common problem.

Thanks guys! Seemed like mixed feelings on epoxy or some other method in an attempt to prevent further cracking. Jury is still out.

I know with the overlays, they recommend using silicone on the cracks so they stick to the new overlay but can still flex slightly. I'm not sure how that would work with a soft cover. Mine is cracked in my '00 and I am still looking at wheter I want to just cover it with a soft dash cover or get a new overlay.

Drill a hole at the end of the crack to keep it from continuing
