I'd think a good solder and heatshrink installation would be more reliable.

It only has to last until trade-in ;) I'm unloading this POS before something else goes wrong.

My first thought is a grounding issue. If its melting connectors and corroding them that is the first place I iwould go to if it was on my vehicle. You would think the engineers would have that thought covered but I've seen them miss simpler things. That's just my two cents worth. Good luck with that and let us know.

I changed the one in mine a couple of years ago. Only 4 and 5 settings worked. I got a replacement at Advanced Auto Parts, and haven't had any problems as of yet. My truck is an '01.
