As a Jewish I understand the reason for this name be considered inappropriate in Israel. But if it ever be offered back there it's probably gonna have another name, such as Lumina, which is still used in other Middle East countries and in South Africa.

If I remember right... Chevy has used that designation since 1961...
Why did it take FIFTY TWO YEARS for some asshole to finally decide he didn't like it???

Super Sport, or SS, is the signature performance option package offered by Chevrolet, a United States Auto Maker, on a limited number of its vehicles.
All SS models come with distinctive "SS" markings on their exterior.
The package was first made available for the 1961 Impala.

Some of the other models bearing the SS badge include the Camaro, Chevelle, El Camino, Monte Carlo,

This is not the first case of a car nameplate rising controversies, and probably won't be the last. Do you remember the Mitsubishi Montero, which many overseas versions had a nameplate that means "wanker" in Spanish?

I'd like to get an Impala SS from the 60's anyways
