Well this is a pretty big deal, I built my first small block when I was about 11 years old in my dads shop. The cornerstone for performance and cheap hot rodding.

We knew it was going to happen soon, and today an LS9 from GM’s Performance Build Center became the 100-millionth small block Chevrolet built. The 638-hp engine will represent the 56-year history of the Chevrolet small-block, and will be set aside as part of GM’s collection. The Chevrolet’s small-block’s contribution to HOT ROD and the hobby in general can’t be overstated. From Bonneville to Daytona, Chevrolet small-blocks have claimed victories and also powered the tow vehicles that got the teams and spectators to the races. With its 5th generation right on the horizon and the 1st-gen still in production for crate engines, the small-block looks to have a lot of miles left.
Just for the record, the 100-million total includes production, crate, marine, industrial, and even V-6 versions of the small-block. We just want to know who was keeping track this whole time.
