So, the boy is pretty serious about camming his truck
Before I hear of anymore parts list he got from friends, or bad forum info, I though I would throw it out here. I know I am supplying the tools, but inevitably I will be working on it, too.

I picked him a cam I think is more suitable, Comp XFI™ RPM, XR265HR

From what I can see, with his RCSB he won't need a stall. I would like to shove the 269HR in there, but will most likely need to get a stall.

Long tubes and a Blackbear tune will be installed at the same time.

Thoughts or experience on the cam choice would be appreciated.

That's gonna be a quick truck when done.

What ever you buy, give Black Bear a chance to quote the parts. I guarantee they will save you money.

I just hate to see him dumping all his money in high performance stuff like his daddy did at that age. You never recover it

I told him the only way we would do this stuff is to keep it clean. When he gets sick of having that regular cab, he is going to have to sell. Always build it like an adult would buy it. Who knows, it might be me :D2

You betcha
Re: Camming the kid's 5.3

Rod bolts, hardened push rods, springs and timing chain while you are in there.

I would 100% recommend a 3000 converter to get the most out of this setup. I'd do a custom spec cam probably something with some advance ground in to help the low end. The cam you picked is very mild :D

Yeah, we have that on the list.

Nothing off the shelf available for the advance from anybody?
