No, that's not a banana in my pants.
Re: Camming the kid's 5.3. Yeah...no
The 1500's and the HD trucks actually use the same bumper. But the valance is slightly different, and the top bumper cap is taller. To do the HD swap, you need a HD grill and a HD bumper cap. You then need to cut the bumper brackets off and re-weld them between 1.25 and 1.5 inches lower on the frame horns. This is because the HD trucks are taller. The HD hood can be installed whether or not you do the HD bumper and grill. It lines up just fine with the 1500 grill.
I have also heard of people installing a 1.5 inch body lift and leaving the bumper brackets alone. The HD bumper cap then fits just fine into place.
Also, if you are willing to spend the cash, LMC truck has the Z71 valance but they are over $200 with their exorbitant shipping costs. I am sure they will also have you bend over and grab your ankles when you tell them to ship it to AK.
Anywhoo...I want to learn more about the HD bumper mod.
We looked EVERYWHERE for a Z71 Tahoe valance, and no bueno. They do not exist for now.
He has a standard bumper located.
We have the wheels and tires handled, which is great news, and he is going to contact Jenna for an autocal that we can share![]()
