Well, here's a pretty good 3-series versus ATS review for you. You might be surprised; you might not.

I saw that last night, pretty good review. Hopefully it was just the tranny in that car or GM needs to get on fixing it. If I was in the market for a car like that I wouldn't even consider an auto and I'd image I'm not alone in that thought so a shitty transmission is unacceptable in a car with in that market. To even be considered with the 3 series though is a great accomplishment for a first gen car.

The vast majority of BMWs sold in this country are automatics. Hell the vast majority of ALL cars sold in this country are automatics. It's getting harder and harder to even find a traditional manual trans on a lot.

If the auto in the ATS is Blackbear tune-able, I would have no problem "accepting" the auto and let Justin work some magic on it. After he tuned the 6-spd on my Denali and I tweaked a couple of personal preferences with EFILive, that transmission was almost telepathic with what I was telling it to do with the accelerator.

Add in that I'm sure the ATS has paddle shifters (I'm actually speculating, but I would be very surprised if it doesn't have paddle shifters) and you could pick & choose your gears for those times you wanted to downshift into a corner, before powering through it..

Very interesting...
He liked the Cadillac better, except for the shifter on the transmission.
Hopefully that was a fluke, and if it wasn't, (again hopefully) Gm will fix it quick.
He said he really liked the Magnetic Suspension on the Caddy even better then the suspension on the BMW.

The ATS is nice and definitely a great effort but it's going to need a good 5 years to prove it's durability and also to show it's value won't sink like a rock. Until then, in any close race, my nod goes to BMW.

That is awesome but if I was going to drop that much coin on car. I would just stick with the BMW for the depreciation aspect on Cadillac.

I can't even find a manual Wrangler around here to test drive.
