Cadillac 4.5L V8 - Anyone know much about them?

Seriously...from the Cadillac forums, which I have been on for several years...the 4.5 and 4.9, give very little trouble, as long as the cooling system is maintained and not neglected for years on end.

The 4.5 and 4.9 are very decent engines,Just take care of the cooling system,and add the coolant system sealing tablets if you ever drain/flush the coolant.
Now if it was a Northstar......I'd tell you to stay the hell away from it! Those Northstars are great when they're running,money pits when they're not!

Do you really need the extra vehicle? I wouldn't buy one of those just because it's in perfect condition and it's cheap... I had one in great shape and it ended up needing a lot of work for a $1,000 car. Just my two cents carry on...

From my OP.

I don't really need it but my FIL is looking for a high-mileage ride for driving back and forth to work and I figured this thing would be perfect for that. If he doesn't need it, I'm sure I could sell it for the same and not be out a dime.

I already have a second buyer if I need to get rid of it too.
