I used to have marker lights on my old scout full top evenly spaced caused they looked right. All of the other trucks I have seen all have the two outer ones at the corners and the three in the center really close together. Does anyone have an idea as to why the ones in the middle are so close together?

Thanks.....Eggman

Aesthetics?:dunno:

Per NHTSA, a minimum of 3 on the front, which indicated the front of a vehicle, and 2 clearance lights on the sides. They all must be yellow.

I am rebuilding a trailer and just went thru the regulations to make it compliant.

Most states require it on larger trucks. The three center lights and two outer clearance lights are also required on the rear of larger trucks. Not sure where this all came from but the roof mounted lights are almost always the same configuration.

Ok, the pdf explains the requirements and the reasoning. The three in the center close together, 6-12" max signifies a wide load. Thanks guys.
