But my MAIN question remains....
WHY do all that crap... :dunno:
It is pointless...

just continue to stick a decent sized V8 in it and all will be well, we can enjoy the beautiful sound it makes and all the little children will sleep peacefully...

My guess to the "why" question is fuel economy.. Yeah, I know, it's a Corvette. But, they still need to bring the #'s up some on everything else, so they don't have to sell a million Cruzes each year (because, frankly, I don't think they CAN sell enough Cruzes, etc. to completely offset the MPG #'s Vettes, Camaros, trucks, etc. are putting out)..

Can you imagine that thing with direct injection?

That would be a very fun ride...
It had a good cam and long tubes...and it was an "OFFROAD" engine ..not legal to run on the street..but with way more power than the street legal engines had.

From the Vette website...

26 MPG highway with no gas-guzzler tax
Better highway fuel economy than many six-cylinder sports cars including BMW Z4, Mercedes SLK350 and Porsche 911 Targa 4S

Yeah, a lot of folks aren't seeing mid-20's as "good" gas mileage anymore, though.. especially not with the CAFE standards pushing higher and higher.. :dunno:

It's not heaven . . . it's Iowa!
A direct injected, large cube, PUSH ROD V8, with a snappy cam would be the ticket.

fWONk a bunch of turbo talk.

V8 + Many Cubes + Good cam = FUN, FUN, FUN...
Sometimes I wish I still had my '78 with the L82...:D

 One of my life goals is to own a C3 Vette.

I don't care if they were some of the most underpowered Vettes ever made. And i don't care that I'm too tall and wide to fit into one. I will still get one. :flag:

I'm waiting for GM to call me and tell me I won the OnStar sweepstakes so I can tell them I want the ZR1 Corvette. :)
