The timing chain jumped on my Honda Si 2L and pinged 8 exhaust and 1 intake valves. Those plus a new chain and tensioner, is there a breakin period/procedure for these type repairs?

I've been staying under 4K rpm under moderate acceleration since getting it back 350 miles ago.

TIA for any help

Yes, there is. Don't listen to these guys. It's 20K miles and you really should be limiting your RPM's to under 2750. :uhoh:

Other major work, yes, I would be concerned about a break-in period. A valve job, not so much. Drive it like you normally do, it will be fine. No need to pussy foot around. :D

I would take it somewhat easy for the first 1000 miles or so (no banzai 8000 rpm runs), just so the parts can wear in where they make contact with each other. I'd also change the oil at about the 1000 mile mark to get rid of any metal fragments from the wear in.

Otherwise, drive it like it's yours.

Damn, TMC is awesome!
One question, the PMs undoubtedly started flying around and y'all came back with ONE answer

Yea, guess I kinda set myself up for that. It's all good (I think)

Hey Z, are you serious about 1K miles? Wouldn't wanna get caught pussy footin around.
I'm going to continue as stated in the OP until 500 miles at least.
It was almost due for an oil change when the problem happened so after the repairs I drove it 200mi and then changed the oil.

As far as driving it normal goes, I rarely threaten the red line but I have met most of the DPS guys in the area. They're pretty cool. LoL
