go with jims way so much easyer and you should only put 2-3 coats of clear on it if you put to much it will take longer to cure.

and you can use the same paint your painting the bed with after u scuff and primer it.

on my gmc emblem i just wiped off with mineral spirits and then painted it after the hour i spent taping off the chrome around the red gmc, no sanding or scuffing, same way i did on my old truck and looks great 8 months later.. no primer or clear either, its just duplicolor paint for plastic
