Refinement is nice for a DD or a luxury car. I'll take my sports cars raw and badass please.

and how do you know if the new Mustang GT350R lacks refinement? Have you driven one yet?

I am sure it is not as refined as some $150K+ foreign sports cars...but it shouldn't be, it's $60k.

you don't have to go to $150k for refinement. There's plenty of refinement in the 55-65K S4 to kick US muscle cars butts as far as build quality and refinement. And yes, I've shopped most of them. Not the GT350R yet.

I get the difference between a raw power experience and a luxury brand performance car, but since the big three has started pricing their entries in the same range as Euro-muscle, they are going to get compared to the other cars in that price range. And speaking of that, at $50k+ why would anyone buy a Camaro, Mustang or Challenger over a new Stingray??

Speaking of price and getting back on topic.... $42k for a loaded Focus RS is BATSHIT INSANE. It's still a Focus. Will be worth about $15k in 3 years.

I'll agree with Jeff pretty much on the refinement bit. You damn well should get it north of 100K. To some degree, a raw edge is the goal on most American muscle cars. It's their character. I've driven a recent Shelby Mustang and a C7 pretty hard. Great running and powerful cars. Lots of fun.

I'm just saying that there is a lot out there beyond the V8 thump in the car world...

Where are these new new GT350R for $60 K?

Was at the Hendrick Chevorlet and looked at a new Z06 in the showroom. $111K. OUCH!

I would rather have a new Mustang GT350R than a new Z06.

I believe the GT350's start at $49K. I think the GT350R is closer to $70K.

You can have your turbocharged 4-banger chick car econobox/shitbox. Enjoy it!!

I'll stick with my "unrefined" V8 American muscle.

I'm not buying one, but suggesting this car wouldn't be fun to drive is nuts. No one ever claimed it was the cream of all the crops, just that sticking 350/350 in a tiny-ass little car might be exciting.

You big-bucket the Focus as a shitbox without driving one, or even being close to one (They are built in Germany and an entirely different beast than a traditional Focus) yet you question Jim, a professional car buyer, on his opinion of cars he sees all the time.

I just thought that was humorous.
