I have a 2007 F-150 that has a backup warning indicator system. It consists of 4 sensors on the rear bumper and a switch in the dash to the right of the cig lighter. This button allows you to turn the system on/off. My problem is this. The indicator light on the dash is always lit up saying that the system is always off. Pushing the button has no effect. The only time the light goes off is when the truck is off. When I start the truck the light is off until I put the truck in reverse, then the indicator lights up saying the system is off. Has anyone had this problem or know where to start looking to fix it? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you to all on this site and keep TRUCKIN!!!!!!!!!!

Check the sensors in the bumper... make sure one of them hasn't got accidentally pushed in.
Also check the wire connections on the back of the sensors.

If one of the sensors has a malfunction... the whole system turns itself off.

I will pull all the connectors and blast them with electrical contact cleaner. First i need some sleep. Third shift and just got home!!! I will update later as to what happens with those connectors. Thanks

First,welcome aboard.

As Jim stated, check the connectors at the sensor. Also, make sure you haven't blown the fuse. Can you see if your reverse lights work when put in reverse?

Give it some time, but some of the Ford guys can chime in with some help.

This may sound silly but is your truck clean or does it stay a little muddy/dirty?

I know snow or ice over the sensors can cause issues so it's likely dirt and mud could as well.

I realize that's a stretch but I'd start by making sure they were clean before anything.

Connectors are clean and tight. Reverse lights work as they should. I pulled the fuse and it is also ok. Thanks for your insights

Cleaning the sensors was the first thing I thought of too. I live on a farm on a dirt road. I myself have had the problems of snow, ice and mud causing problems. Thanks for trying to help

Have you had a reprogram on it at the dealer? The BCM could be jacked up. Also, is your battery voltage good? All these new systems need good juice to operate flawlessly.
