How much longer is Ford planning to sell the Ranger...seems to be a bit long in the tooth.

I've read that the Ranger will meet its end in by 2012. So the death may come as soon as next year even. I know there's plenty of Ranger fans saying keep it around, but they're not even buying them. It's cheaper to buy an F-150 then a Ranger these days. Last time I looked at a nicely equipped Ranger they wanted 24k!!! The Ranger has ran it's course and should have been put down gracefully several years ago, but...

Not knocking the Ranger, they're solid ass trucks! Just saying the whole mini/mid-sized truck phase seems to have passed us by. I wouldn't be surprised to see GM cut the Colorado shortly after the Ranger is gone.

At 39000 sales so far this year, I'd bet the Ranger makes good money for Ford. They'll bump 60,000 units this year at that pace. Lots of manufacturer DREAM of selling 60,000 of anything.

Well I take back what I said earlier about the Ranger meeting it's demise in 2012. I'd read that it was pretty much a done deal, but know I see this article...

On a side note, this is my favorite Ranger ever made. 4.0 engine and 5 speed transmission and you've got some fun!!!

The Ranger is a solid well made little truck. Very reliable too. I'd drive one of those Excabs with the bigger tire and wheel setup. Not bad.

My 2000 Ranger with a 3.slow would like a word with you.

I bought it used and about a month after that a tranny rebuild was needed. Spark plugs didn't want to come out when it was time to replace them. The nut portion ended up snapping off making for a very expensive job.

Don't even get me started on it's performance. This little saying sums it up nicely, "V8 gas mileage and 4 cylinder power".

Judging the dependability of a vehicle off of a used example that may have been through no telling what is like judging a long passionate night of steamy sex with a beautiful woman off of a magazine picture of Jessica Alba. :dunno:

It sucks that yours had issues, but overall the Ranger has been a very good vehicle for many years.
