Could a loose serpentine belt really have messed up all of those parts or would on have affected the other somehow?

My .02 worth is go for the first one NOT the second.

The first one RUNS the second "will run" AFTER you buy the parts and they're installed.

No way of knowing if the tranny slips, the transfer case engages, etc.

Unless you think the vehicle's body, lift, tires etc are worth $1,500 and anything else mechanically that works after fixing is a plus.
