Anybody here tire experts? Need some help.

I found some 305/55 trail grapplers on craigslist. The seller says they have 2-3k miles on them and are at 14-15/32 tread depth, he said they start out at 19/32. Is that amount of miles consistant with the tread depth he says it is?


I have him down to $950 for them, but they're 4 hours from me so i would have to account for gas obviously.

Wow, that's a new one! I'm closer to parts than you for a change!! Usually I'm always the one coming up there.

Pretty good savings! They'll probably get old from age before the tread wears out at the rate you drive!

Sad part is your probably right Its a little road trip, but willing to make the drive to save $$$.

I just don't know anything about tread depth on tires, if he's just guessing about it or what, in relation to the mileage.

They look about right. I just got brand new ones and I can tell those are worn a little bit.

Here's the way i see it. It's worn almost 1/5th of the entire tread already. if he has only gone 2-3k miles then the life of the tire worn bald would only be 10-12K miles I know those tires will do at least 25-30k. Seems kinna fishy.
