Help please.

I am looking for a car for my younger daughter and went to look at this one:

2003 Honda Accord EX

The good: Car is clean inside and out. Runs/drives perfect, good tires, good brakes. Everything works.

The bad: There is some amateur-looking bodywork done on the driver's side rear quarter panel. I can see body filler on the wheel lip in front of the wheel and some lousy paintwork and some bondo ripples. I am 95% sure it was not rust as the rest of the car is rust-free. I am sure it was hit, but not severely. Just not fixed professionally.

Check engine light is on, but he claims he had it checkd at Auto Zone and it is a Evap/Emissions sensor and he never fixed it. he has owned the car for 1 year and bought it from a some guy that peddles cars. And the Airbag light is on.

VIN: 1HGCM72663A013900

He is asking $3900/bo. If I have not seen the bodywork, I would have offered him $3500 tonight. But now I thinking $3000....if I even want to at all?

If someone here has Carfax, that would be awesome.

Zembonez...where are you? :D

KBB.com has it at $4151 in "Good" condition.

Also, I looked at the title and it is not a salvage. BUT, the odometer field states "N/Req'd". No idea why? It should state the miles at the time of last sale.

NADA: Clean retail is $6550 (no way is it worth that).

A car with body work, especially half-assed body work would scare me away. I'd go get the codes pulled myself or take a code reader before doing anything.

A quick Google search found that that cars older than 10 years in MN don't have their mileage documented.

Odometer Disclosure - Required for all vehicles
except those that are ten years old or older, vehicles
with a gross vehicle weight rating of more than
16,000 pounds, or vehicles that are not selfpropelled.

Can't be too bad, the interior looks pretty clean and those 3.8s are awesome! Smooth, efficient, nice and torque rich down low, as well reliable and easy to work on. I miss those old school pushrod V6s GM had forever. They were down on power on paper but got out of their own way just fine, got awesome mileage on the highway thanks to their low end torque, and were just getting broken in at 100k.
