Hi
I have burnt the motor in my air compressor. I don't even understand how it happened. Firstly i noticed the smell then it stopped.
I have the spare motor (I used it when I had a farm) nut the problem is it needs 3phase. How to convert the energy? I will use it through 1ph.
Please help.

It's not heaven . . . it's Iowa!
I'd just buy a single phase motor, but that's just me. Unless this is a monster compressor, 3 phase isn't going to be worth messing with.

Why do you need a VFD? A VFD is not a phase converter.

Just get a new single phase motor with equal specs to your old one. The more components you add to any system, the more potential problems you can have.

Yes phase converters work.
Yes VFD works and is cool but unless you are really needing to fine tune the speed of a motor for process they are complete overkill.

With anything especially electrical, KISS= Keep It Simple Stupid! Not saying you're stupid or anything but it's a saying I use often. The simpler you keep things, the simpler the repairs will be and cost for that matter.
