That was my point, simply that efficiency is possible without enormous subsidies and lies.

If it ever came down to mileage being an issue, I'd buy a VW diesel before I bought anything that had hybrid written on it.

I am not gonna drive across country at 38 mph, no fucking way is that happening.

SO if they drove 2 14 hour shifts that would put them around 57 mph average.

For the average trip over 8 hours for me is and average of 60-65 mph so they either stopped a while for lunch and dinner but seems like a legit deal

I believe it. I knew a guy who took his golf TDI from texas to cali for a summer and back, all he has done to it was a bigger turbo and custom tunes and lowered slightly. got around 80-90 mpg
