Okay, my dad drives a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500. He mentioned that the headlights on his truck are terrible and wanted new headlights similar to my TYC Elegante lights on my 95, since his stockers are fubar.
After wallowing through a bunch of crappy Chinese lights on eBay, I stumbled across the 99-01 Ram Sport headlights: http://www.amazon.com/1999-2001-DODGE-HEADLIGHT-99-01-COMPLETE/dp/B001R5HFXM/
Several people on other forums say these headlights make a big difference. These have separate bulbs for high and low whereas the stock Ram lights just use a dual-filament bulb for high and low. Another good thing is that both of the bulbs in the Sport headlights are also dual-filament, so with a relay I could wire both highbeam-filaments to come on at the same time as well.
So does anyone here know what is involved in this conversion? From what I read on other forums, it seems I will have to cut some of the metal behind the headlights for the them to clear, but it was unclear if that only applies to pre-99 Rams.
Also, if I understand Dodge's wiring diagrams, it looks like the headlights are reverse polarity. The fusebox powers the headlights directly, and then the headlight switch provides them with a ground. Correct?
