97 Suburban will not start, what to check?

I don't have access to a pressure gauge. And I didn't see him test it. He said he had a buddy test it earlier in the day before I went over there. I just went by the numbers he told me.
That combined with the fact that it would start and run for a few seconds with starting fluid, leads us both the believe its the fuel pump.
I won't be helping him change it though. His dad and buddy will. I know that will be an all day job on a Suburban. And working in this humid triple digit weather makes it even worse.

Oh, and that suburban has 380,000 miles on it. :eek: So I would assume its time to replace the pump anyway :lol:

The fuel pressure needs to be around 42PSI for it to start and run right.

Has to be the fuel pump. Like Gary says, 380,000 miles...not bad. :D

Those suburban tanks like the place that they are in, and don't like to be moved from thier happy home.
