Ok, so I tried to start my Blazer today and it no workie. It would crank and crank but not fire up and actually run. I poured a tiny bit of gas into the throttle body and it started but killed after about 10 seconds. I then had my son start it while I held the gas can over the throttle body. As long as I was pouring a steady small stream of gas into it, it would stay running. So that tell me that tells me there is obviously a fuel delivery problem, like a bad pump. I do not have a fuel pressure guage but I did check the shcrader valve on the fuel rail to see if it had pressure. It did have a tiny bit of pressure. When I pressed it, a bit of fuel squirted out and then maybe like 2 ounces or so leaked out. If I remember right, it should have so much pressure that it sprays out pretty forcefully. Is that right? :dunno:

Could be a seriously clogged filter, but the pump is a suspect for sure. I'd make sure it's getting power. Possible relay issue?

First, can you hear the pump cycle when you turn the key?

Swap the horn relay and the fuel pump relay, see if it works.

If not, your pump is pooched... Hope the tank wasn't full! :uhoh:

I recommend replacing as much of the FP harness as you can, as when the pumps start going, they pull more current than the wires like, burning them out, which makes the new fuel pump work harder and burn out faster :wtf:

Have you tried the rubber mallet on the bottom of the tank trick?

No, I do not hear the pump at all. I don't even hear it kick on when I turn the key.
And I can run new wires from the relay to the pump if I have to. What guage is the stock wiring?
And lucky for me the tank is nearly empty. But this Blazer is just a project of mine that has been sitting for quite a while in my backyard. I need to suit bullshitting and do something with it. Maybe I will start a build thread and start fixing it up. My wife wants me to just get it running again and sell it. :dunno:

IIRC, probably 14 guage... I've never seen it... But automakers skimp on wiring

It definitely sounds like the fuel pump is shot. Do like Dennis said, and smack the bottom of the tank with a rubber mallet. :dunno:

I put a fuel pump in a 98 blazer.. and still woudlnt start... Before you take it all apart... Be sure to check the Ground wire on the pump... That is what was wrong with the one i did..... I also did not replace the whole fuel pump module.. i just got a rebuild kit off ebay ... Be sure to check that ground could save your self some time and money
