Would vortec heads make up for the low compression pistions?---Iv got 305 and 350 heads-the 305heads need to be rebuilt the 350 dont and the engine for the 350 heads has something wrong with the bottom half-while the engine with the low compression pistions is good-i could put the 350 heads on the 350 low compession pistions engine but then at best i would have 8:1---i have a cold ram air kit would that help?Im looking for the cheap way i guess?

To be honest, I don't know all of the chamber sizes on the different heads. I haven't ran a SBC with stock heads in a long time.

If I get a chance to do some digging or maybe someone else will chime in that knows. I just don't know what the difference in chamber size is.

The thing to remember also, if you go with vortec heads, you will have to have a different intake also.

Can i make this work some how with the 350 low compression pistions and the 350 heads-horton motors told me if i did just slap it on it be 7.5:1 to a 7.8:1 and that i need to be at 9:1---If i ran full mechanical advance and put the highest weight set in the dist. and tried to put some kind of cold ram air forced induction thing on and put on the thinnest head gasket i could???

You would not want to go more then a 100 shot with a stock bottom end. I understand that you are probably not serious about it and I was half way kidding, BUT the key to nitrous is the nitrous to fuel ratio.

What kills nitrous motors is lean conditions. Things get hot really fast with spray and you can melt parts. You hear a lot horror stories with spray because people think it is just slap on hp and don't put the research and time they should into building a motor to run it.

I hear ya-im tossing some ideas around-I could go have those 305 heads done and put on it the bored 30over low compression 350 engine-or turn the crank and replace the crank bearings and main bearings and rod bolts in the other 350 virgin---its a toss up-iv been keeping my eye out for a 454:naughty:
