A six speed with 3.42 gears is equivalent to a 4 speed with 4.10s because of the lower first gear ratio... or so I have read.

For the 1/2 ton trucks you are correct. The 3.42 gears actually give you closer to a 4.56 4 speed equivalent. But for the hd's its a different tranny and gear ratio. So they still get 3.73 or 4.10s

Quite possible. The article I read was on the half ton 5.3 with the Six speed.

If you think your 6.0 drinks a lot now, just wait until you get your Black Bear tune!!

:thumbs:

OH NO :lol::lol:

my truck has the 4:10's

so the info i gathered is
i have a ly6 6.0 with the l92 heads, gen 4 = 18 year old badarse on a drinking binge with a atitude looking to be a rock star (after bb tune).

gm put in 1 of its many configured ratio tranny's to make up for the 4:10 gears.

old school blocks are just that.

now when i see the 6.0 gpm threads, there comes alot into factor about the apples and oranges ppl are compairing to. motors, heads, 1/2 and 3/4 tons, gears ratios and tranny, plus the standard 3/4 ton trucks are just heavyer than the 1500's. also take into factor is, was the truck built on monday or friday. why? well if you take my tranny that is geared higher because of the 4:10 gears and someone at the factory on friday waiting for beer:30 might have threw a load of trannys on the 1500 line with 3:73 or higher rearend gears= a 20mpg truck. :thumbs:

another question.

so the 6.2 is better in the injectors and mainfold right? would it be worth it for that swap if it would fit?

on your LY6? your intake is the same but im not sure about your injectors. Im pretty sure there isn't a "better" injector. They may be bigger on the 6.2 but not worth it unless going Forced Induction.

I stand corrected, the injection is the same, so it must be in the heads/cam :dunno:

I thought GM would've put direct injection on the v8s by now since it did wonders for their 6s
