2900lbs is well within the payload specs of the truck... Don't worry about something so light, lol.

Unless you're getting a trailer with a lot of nose, you don't _need_ a slider.

Go the option that doesn't mess up loading the bed too much... And also gives you the option for a gooseneck attachment if you need it, later on.

If forgot about B&W with the pucks, when I bought my DSP setup, lol. But my rails will let me load drywall in the back without hurting anything.

The rails create a problem with the other thing i use my truck for every year...pallets of wood pellets.
fork truck forks are only so long, so they have slide the pallet the rest of the way in once they set it down...that's touch to do with rails across the middle of the bed

Then the pucks or the DSP setup are your best bet... If I remember right, the pucks are flush with the bed.

This is what I was thinking of based on what i had found so far and your suggestion:

I like that as I don't want rails in the bed when the hitch is out of the truck. As i'm not well versed in this stuff, I'm not sure what all the options are.

Yep, that is what I should have done. The dealer wanted me to pick up the new 5er right away, and I just bought the first hitch I saw based on some shitty info from that salesman.

I have the rails, for my Curt. They don't really interfere with anything, and the install wasn't super horrible. I am not sure if I can even change to another style, now that I have the rails? I don't want any more holes in the bed. I can pin other hitches to the rails if i upsize.

I am a huge fan of the GM rubber bed mat in all my trucks, and I am going to cut slots in mine that surround the rails, making them nearly 100% none intrusive.

I have long lived, and believed the hard and fast "rule" that late model HD trucks with AAM rear axles are only limited by the tire rating. I have overloaded these things so many times with air bags, and they perform without failure.

You will be just fine.

You should see my buddies 42' XLT toyhauler with the smart car in the back. He pulls it with a SRW Dodge, and has a 4000 pin weight

Oh no, I'm not doubting you that it would be fine. My situation is just on hold due to the offers from dealers being *insane*. numbers had been right, I would have been telling you guys about the fifth wheel hitch i had ordered this evening.

We are actually living in our 5er right now, while the house sells, and we buy another house in Spokane. Now I REALLY want a bigger one

They make toy haulers designed to fit one motorcycle in the back, lol. The RV shop I deliver water to, has one... Comes with wheel chock/bracket in the compartment, lol

Gotcha, yeah I should have been more specific when I posted that, we were talking about Grand Design models. I wish that had one in their 5th wheel lineup.
