I'm pretty sure you're not the first one to make that mistake. A lot of people don't know the 400 is externally balanced until they learn the hard way.
2 bolt "509" casting 400 is the one to get. ... Drill steam ports in the heads if you are going to run it on the street with other than 400 heads.
I'm in the process of building a 400 .040 over. ...... Actually just sold my old rotating assembly that was crank/new rods/new pistons never ran... That was .030 over. 400's make great power.
I hate 383's for some reason.... If you wanna build a stroker Do a 377!
I do have the 509 stamped block 2 bolt. I just need to get it to another machine shop and have them check it out and give me measurements on it. Thanks for the input guys. Got another thread coming right now.........
