Some more leaked news and photos.

The 8 speed outta be a good upgrade to both the V6 andHemi and actually let it perform like it's numbers say it should. I actually like it, seems a good MCE upgrade (and overall de-chroming) of the current model. Not too interested in the diesel as I don't think the initial cost plus the increased fuel and maintenance costs will be offsets by the mileage for many years. Not to mention finding someone to work on it will be a nightmare. Not sure on the reshaped headlights with the grayed out area but that seems to be the latest fad. Toyota did it on the Tacoma, Ford did it on the Escape, GM did it to the Encore and Acadia, and now Chrysler is doing it on this. Atleast Chrysler hid the headlamp washers in theirs.

Can't stand the new grille/light setup. Terrible.

Wow, why mess with what they currently have? In my opinion the current Cherokee is one of the best looking Cherokees made.

It's the direction everybody is going, but I agree. The older design was much nicer looking. I love the angular and athletic looking design like Matt has.

Vette: Good update from every angle except the back

GC: Good update from every angle except the front

I like the headlights themselves just not the back filler from where they re-shaped them. Don't quite understand that fad and the smiling front end doesn't look as good. I think the de-chroming including the body color grille with chrome rings around the openings, the loss of the big chrome side moldings, and the chrome bar across the hatch.

While it's not a bad looking SUV, it's a further step from what made Jeeps. And i'm not talking about solid axle BS.... im talking about the "swiss army knives" of SUVs. You used to be able to customize a Jeep to your liking. So the same model could be a family hauler OR a MOAB crusher.

Seems like anything beyond 2010 and you can pretty much write off the possibility of steel winch bumpers, rock sliders, fender flares for wider tires, etc. The WK/XK platform is hard enough to customize as it is but we have a fighting chance.

With that said.... I'd definitely rock the 2014 to get my kids to hockey practice!
