I liked my GMT400 trucks

JIM, what did you have?

I had a Red 93 350 - 5 speed Excab Chevy, a Red 94 350 AT Excab Chevy, a Green 95 350 AT Excab Chevy, and a Green 96 RCSB GMC.

Damn Jim, that's a lot of trucks. Why once every year though?

I do have one question for you: What was it like driving the '93? (I only ask because I thought about getting a ECSB 5spd)

Yeah. I've been through a lot of trucks.

The 5 speed V8 truck was fun for a while, but eventually the shifting bit got old. I ended up swapping it for an automatic the following year mainly because it was a LOT easier to launch my boat with the auto.

It was for "Valley". It was the logo that was on the side of our football helmets.

I really like having the 5spd for a winter driver. It just gives me more options as to what gear to start out in. But I got an Auto in my Silverado for that purpose: towing. Especially starting out uphill (or a boat landing), the clutch gets worn so much more than with an Auto that just slings the fluid around more in the torque converter.

After looking at the MPG ratings, if I get a 4x4 for the winter it will be an S10 again. And after thinking about it for a day, I didn't buy my current S10 for gas mileage in the summer, I bought my motorcycle for that. So I very well may be switching to a 5spd 4x4 S10 for next winter (if I can find one cheap enough). Plus, I really miss having fun in the snow with the assurance of 4wd to get me out.
