You know what though? That stupid 5spd lasted a lot longer than GM's 4l70e has.

I hear it's damn-near bullet proof.

I've heard that too, though I doubt my 260lb-ft is stressing it out but it has been behind some downright beastly Benz's. Not too impressed with the gearing but with the torque the 6.4 Hemi has I doubt it really matters.

chryslers 5 speed sucks IMO

It's not at all related to Chrysler's crazy 5 speed with 6 forward gears if that's what you're referring too but an old Mercedes unit that's been around since the early 90s. Chrysler has only been using it since 05 in some vehicles.

Nah...your Jeep just allows the trans to sleep.

It bugs me that Chrysler is getting so much flack for their transmission. Ford gets nothing when they introduce the 2009 F-150 with carryover powertrains or the 2010 Mustang with carryover powertrains.

But Chrysler reinvents the American sedan, the mid-sized SUV, and the large SUV, by building Chryslers that the world have never seen before with a level of quality, driveability, capability, etc...and all of that is glossed over because they are using a 5-speed.

Have to complain about something. It's funny that all affordable SUVs with some capability (4Runner, Pathfinder, Xterra) are still using 5 speeds but since Chrysler is pitting them as capable SUVs with near crossover comfort they're comparing them to the FWD, 6 speed Highlanders and Acadias. Maybe I'm just biased? :jester:
