well mine has 3.73`s and is rted for 10400#s, 11,300 is signifigantly more.

Well...right.

But the TwinForce engine will not be getting anywhere near 16/22 with 3.73 gears...probably closer to 14/18.And 3.73 will be the most common gear chosen.

I absolutely HATE how automakers can get away with, what is essentially lying to consumers by posting dishonest FE figures.

A 2WD regular cab truck with 3.15 gears will not get the same mileage as a 3.73 geared crew cab truck.

I just read( in my hot little hands actually) Trucks Plus which is a canadian truck &suv mag that 12 canadian auto writers test drove the new eco boost and averaged 23mpg or 10.2L/100km with 3.73 gears driving nicely. The best was 28.9mpg or 8.1L/100km:eek:
The writer also wrote that while it can tow 5000kgs/11000lbs he towed just over 3000kgs and it "felt fine - but it also felt like "enough" " any more might start causing the "tail to wag the dog".

But that is meaningless when the discussion is about official EPA figures.

Baby steps....agreed. I would have liked to see more mileage, too, though. Taking into consideration it's a V6 doing what the V8s can do, it's impressive. To me (IMO) it was just hyped up more than it should have been.

At least it is a step in the right direction.

If Ford had not gone for such high performance numbers (Hey - it makes the news) they could have gone with something like a 3.0 V6 and likely built something in the 275 - 300 HP range that could get mid 20s mpg.

I think that's the next step.

Can you imagine if they didn't kill the Ranger and shove this thing in there. Whoa!

Then my next truck, would be a Ranger...
